Editing Pt. 2

When we finally got laptops that would let us edit, we started. We ended up using iMovie on our iPhones so we could access it after class was over. It wasn't very difficult. I had to import the clips and watch them all to see what we wanted to keep. We chose the best clips from each shot to use. We split the clips and cut them down so it would be the right length. One of my group mates, Savanna, already knew how to operate iMovie. She taught me how to use all the features. We had two class periods to edit. Our footage was good enough that we didn't have to re-shoot anything.
One problem we ran into was that our other group mate, Kelly, was really sick. She could not be here all week so she didn't edit with us. We will have to teach her when she comes back so that can be apart of the next editing process. Another problem we ran into while editing was that we couldn't figure out how to add a png. We had to the logo at the end as a png so that it would show the brand we were advertising for. We couldn't get the png to go over our filming. It would only show up after. We had to finish the project somehow. Instead of getting the logo, Savanna figured out a solution. She made white texts that read "Vans" which we put over the last shot.
Our commercial was a lot better than I expected it to be. The transitions were very smooth and not choppy. We used zooms and other transitions to convey our message. The zooms emphasized the Vans shoes. We slowed down certain parts to show the importance. We also sped up certain shots to emphasize the slow motion parts. We think that our commercial will be memorable to viewers because of how the editing conveyed the product. It's a very chilled out commercial with hints of playfulness. Overall, I think we did really good for our first project in this class. I have hope for our next one as well.
